Steve Vallos returns as C/G backup for Eagles...and other matters...
Steve Vallos is Next Man Up for the Eagles.
Steve Vallos will back up Dallas Reynolds at center but can also play guard. Vallos is in his 6th season in the NFL, 6-3, 310, a native of Youngstown who was drafted 22nd in the 7th round of the 2007 NFL draft. Vallos played his college ball at Wake Forest. He was drafted by Seattle, where he spent 2007 on the practice squad, then was activated for a total of 32 games in 2008 and 2009. He started a total of 8 games. He was waived in final cuts of 2010 and was picked up by Cleveland. He appeared in 7 games for the Browns in 2010, and 1 game for them in 2011.
Vallos then was signed by the Eagles as a free agent in March of 2012. He was released by the Eagles on August 31...but now gets the call to replace the roster spot held by the injured Jason Kelce, who now goes on Injured Reserve list for the rest of the season as Kelce has wisely chosen surgery to repair his right knee.
A lot of people may not remember, but Vallos was selected to many All-American first team honors in 2006, as well as being named College Football News' ACC Player of the Year in 2006.

PRO FOOTBALL WEEKLY sees the cornerbacks of Philly vs. the WR's of the Cardinals as the key matchup--- Eagles CBs Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie vs. Cardinals WRs Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Roberts and Early Doucet...
In New England this past Sunday, the Patriots used a fair amount of double coverage on Fitzgerald, with one defender solely assigned to shadow Fitzgerald, often with his back to the action on the field. Later giving Bill Belichick credit for the sound strategy the Patriots' head coach used to contain him, Fitzgerald said he didn’t mind at all being a decoy and opening things up for the Cardinals’ other pass-catchers, particularly TE Todd Heap (knee, check status), who had a team-leading five catches for 62 yards.
Don’t be surprised if extra coverage by the Eagles on Fitzgerald opens up a fair share of opportunities this Sunday for Roberts and Doucet. Rather quietly, Roberts has become a steadily productive weapon. His two-yard TD catch vs. the Pats was his fourth score in the last six games dating back to last season.
Both Roberts and Doucet were key weapons in Arizona’s Week 10 win over Philly last season. While Roberts had four catches for 55 yards, Doucet snared the game-winning five-yard TD with 1:53 remaining. Doucet has a flair for making tough, clutch catches, as was the case in New England on his 9-yard catch for a first down at the end of the third quarter despite taking a vicious hit.

Just looking at the league.....Saints run D is the worst in the league. They may turn things around soon but you have to wonder if Spags came here as our DC and we started with this kind of D, fans would have been unbearable

And the footage of Ryans was awesome. I love that guy !!!
Showed a lot of him talking to Kendricks.....lot of tutoring. And you can see the way Kendricks looks at him when he's talking, that Kendricks listens to everything he says.
Right before the 4th and 1....he grabs Kendricks and tells him "you get tight on the back on the sideline......balls gonna go to the sideline....you stay right up close to that back.....this is for the game". And he's right of course....pass right to the RB that Kendricks is covering.

If we end up having Ryans for a few years,.....it would be nice to pick up another young highly ranked LB or two in the draff over the next year or two......in the first 3 rounds or so................while we have Ryans here to groom 'em....the way he's doing Kendricks. Not many vets will do what Ryans is doing........being a coach on the field, and teaching the young guys. Utilize that while we got it.

@Palm Feathers I don't know Palmy..........I kinda feel like the D has already clicked. If we can stop with the turnovers on offense, and stop putting the defense in bad field position,......and just importantly cut down on the penalties.......I think this defense can be the best we've seen since the Hugh Douglas/Trotter/Vincent/Dawkins/Emmons days wiff JJ. Could be better.
My main concern wiff the D, is the way our corners are playing. They've been veeeerrrryyyyy physical, wiff a lot of contact. These replacement refs are letting the WR's and DB's play, and aren't calling a lot of PI calls. But once the real refs come back......I have a feeling that might change, and I wonder how that will affect our corners play.

@Palm Feathers Dunlap never gonna be too good,....he is just built too top-heavy.....wiff a high C.O.G.
Once he commits his weight, momentum.....it's hard for him to reverse that......very quickly,....due to his stilt-legs. But it looks like he's at least a capable (if not spectacular) tackle, which is 50x better than I ever figured he would be.

Showed Vick and Reid on the sideline before the last touchdown,....you hear Vick tell him "Let's run the draw right here".....then Reid kinda makes a noise like "anhhhh" or "nahhhh" or something like that,....and then Vick re-iterates "Let's run the draw right here". Reid musta listened. Coach Marty wasn't in the convo. Next play....TD.

baltimore defense is in the top 5 point getters in the league. Got me 60 points in week 1. You got nothing to equal that....even if you throw in Gronk wiff the Dallas Def.
What I need is a b/u rb. So if you want one of my surplus (but promising) wide receivers,....let me know.
