First thing I gotta say, I apologize to Jai-Jar, who came up with a whale of a game at safety vs. the Jets' 2nd and 3rd team guys... This is why you should never write a game weeview before seeing the tape at least twice...
Jarrett recovered from a few early misalignments and was in on every play the rest of the game...and the coaching staff basically kept him out there the entire game. I think he erased a lot of doubts in the coaching staff's minds with his effort against the Jets.
Secondly, I waited until the 9:00 P.M. EST Friday August 31,2012 deadline for all cuts to be published by the Eagles before reporting the news...
The biggest shocker to me is the cut of CB Joselio Hanson, who played lights out during the preseason as the designated slot cover guy... Maybe this was essentially a salary-cap move aimed at 2013...Who knows for sure? But no doubt Hanson ends up with another NFL team this season...and hopefully not a Division rival in the NFC East...
Joselio Hanson was good at one thing only--- slot coverage--- don't dare put him on the outside! But at 5-9, 185, in his 8th year out of Texas Tech, the former free agent was suddenly deemed expendable by Howie Roseman and Andy...did it have something to do with Hanson's big cap number in 2013? Probably...because nobody besides Darryl Tapp was more dedicated or laying more wood in this 2012 Training Camp and preseason than Hanson...
This is why I hate the numbers games associated with the modern NFL. You got a guy in the prime of his craft and his career... then you have to dump him because he's making too much money based upon your projected cap numbers for the following season...
Anyhoo, here's what shook out from the preseason drama at 9 P.M. Friday night...

That doesn't mean the roster is final yet. I'm sniffing some major trade action coming up in the week leading up to the Eagles' opener vs. Cleveland...
What rips me up is every one of those names up there is a human interest story... and their life stories could probably fill a Disney movie script.
And dig this---Later in the night, the Eagles traded a conditional draft pick for safety David Sims from Cleveland and cut OL Julian Vandervelde. So Vandy the Singer got cut AFTER the cuts!--- hurtful!
The Eagles also activated safety Colt Anderson (knee) off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. What, is this the answer to our nationally-recognized deficiency at the safety position? Really?
Maybe I'm being too cynical here...
Welp, here are the guys who made the (current) final cuts before further modifications and trades----
Michael Vick, Nick Foles, Trent Edwards
Andy Reid: “In the end, we had to make the difficult decision to let Mike Kafka go. Mike is a class act, a student of the game and a great person and I think he’ll have no problem finding a job in the National Football League very soon. On the other hand, I’m proud of the way Trent Edwards conducted himself since the early days of the offseason workouts. He had to fight for everything he earned this summer.”

Okay... TJ out... until tomorrow... my head is spinning from the empathy... Cut-downs suck... Have you ever been cut from a team and begged the coach to reconsider? I have... and the memory is traumatic... At least a bunch of these guys who were cut still have a shot to land with another NFL team and come back to haunt us... In a serial-criminal kind of way, I (kind of) hope so...
This Thomas boy and Oregon are just ridiculous. I really wish their coach had taken the Bucs job.......just to see if his style will work in the nfl
Wanna know ANOTHER reason college football is boooooooring... Oklahoma State won 84-0.... Now you college football guys please esplain how that would NOT be boring to watch????
@atvcar Why is Savannah State even in the NCAA? That's the real question. Another one is, why is Oklahoma State playing a team of that caliber? I agree, those kind of games are depressingly boring to watch, but if you're a OKST fan, probably not near as much.
@atvcar I totally get that, ATV... it can only be corrected iffin they have a LOTTERY for schedule-making... the NCAA should throw all the divisional teams into a lottery and come up with the schedules... When team are allowed to dictate their own schedules, youse will get 84-0 blowouts...
@Tom Jackson I wouldn't watch an NFL game (as much as I love it) if it was 84-0... Not even if it was the Iggles smarshing the Cowboys...
@atvcar Welp, I kept wartching that one because of the crazy things I have seen happen to the Iggles over the decades... such as blowing a 21-point lead in the 4th quarter... but yeah, I get your point...
At what point do you turn it off... 70-0? 60-0? 50-0? 40-0?.... 84-0... No college football isn't boring... AT ALL
Tech plays Monday.
BTW, they can't be ur boys. They are my boys,....along with NU (Go Wildcats !)
My sons first football game of the season was today. He had 132 rushing yards on 11 carries, he ripped off an 82 yard run. He had 9 tackles, 1 interception (last play of the game). Hes also the punt returner and kick returner. He had 2 fumbles, 1 was on a kick return, just lost it in the pile, the other was a pitch that went off his finger tips. He was fantastic. The best part is that we were playing Holyoke, Brian Westbrooks father coaches them. Thats just friggen cool.
@fieldsr69 Somehow you have produced a STAR! ****genetic engineering*** please deposit sperm sample at exit station,... we need more of your DNA...for future reference,...
@atvcar thanks. Im very aware of it. Hes been carted off the field once already, that was scary, and he had a concusion the year before. Its fun but stressful as hell, part of why i like baseball better.
Broz was aerating today... not the same thing as when Jerky aerates...
Nothing worse than playing golf on a course that's being aerated...
@Tom Jackson I was air-rating like a mofo !
Then hitch the ole plugger behind the Jon Dear,.........and plug away,....like GFBWLJB99 with a fat lady.
@Tom Jackson Although TBT, I could use about half a million of Fat's finest Earff Worms,......to scatter about.
Hey ATV,.......what do you have on your yard......out there in Nevader ?
Sand ? Rocks ? What's the norm ?
@atvcar Wonder how much a synthetic lawn costs ?
@atvcar water converstation.
@atvcar why ?
@Brozer8 in 29 Palms we used to rake the sand and rocks,, ALL DAY. then we would paint rocks. It sucked. "Base Beautification".
