Flipping the blurgg to the Birds...
Written by Thomas Jackson on .
I'm back from the hinterlands of the Eastern Shore after a long Memorial Day Weekend, and thanks to all members and fans of the Bored who kept watch here...
I was deep in Redskins country without any internet or TV communication with the Philly sports scene. The only NFL football I heard talked about by the local watermen, boat builders and farmers was "RG3" and how he and the Redskins were about to impact the NFC East.
I learned over the radio that the 76ers had lost their Game 7 of the NBA semifinals with Boston. I flipped the AM dial desperately at night for any news from or about the Eagles. I came up empty.
It felt like the entire NFL had taken the weekend off. On the drive home today I scoured every daily newspaper I could find at the Royal Farms store in Easton, Maryland. No Eagles. No NFL. Nothing. Even USA Today had virtually no football news at all.
In this case for me, "Miss a little, miss nothing..."
SO back to this week's edition of Eagles voluntary OTA workouts....

This is a photo from last Tuesday's OTA's, as McCoy takes a handoff from Vick...(photo by Alex Brandon, AP)
There will be three days of sessions this week...I believe they are to be held Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but I will need to confirm that for you.
No need to hype the sessions. They are just men at work. Nothing game-changing will be revealed. Pray for no fluke injuries...
"With the expectations, and us not only not meeting our goals, but not making the playoffs, we learned a lot," Pro Bowl running back LeSean McCoy said. "I think it humbled us. With all the big-time players that we have, we really have to check ourselves and go into the season to prove ourselves."
"I really think all of the hype is out the window and it's a new year. I think there's a lot of pressure for us as players. We have to make sure we do the right things."
The Eagles haven't won a playoff game since 2008. The three-year winless drought is the longest since the turn of the century.
"Nobody made it this far by laying down for anybody," wide receiver Jason Avant said. "Everything that you do in this National Football League, you have to earn it. Nobody cares if you're the Eagles - your talent, your roster, your quarterback, your receivers. You've got to go out and work hard. And that's it."
The Eagles open the season at Cleveland on Sept. 9.
Now another commute, this time to work to explain to the company why I am late today... Welp, a 45-minute ferry trip to the mainland, a 4-hour drive, and...oh yeah, that half-hour I spent looking for news on the Eagles at the Royal Farms newsstand.Bri... Not sure how youse took my copy and paste of a definition as an attempt to pretend to know sumtin... But iffin you don't like the definition (presumably cause it didn't jive with your made up one)... Don't kilt the messenger... Give Webster a call instead dingus breath!
Ok Phitins got the lead going into the bottom of the 8th now PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE for the love of gawd do NOT put in Chad Qualls... Quick someone get this memo to uncle cholly
Oops should have said not big truck either... But since we used bastardo in the 7th... Who else was left?
Welp ,..no decision for Lee agin. Two things,..Shane really needs to perk up,..biggest disappointment this year,..and our pitchers,.aren't getting their "strikes" as b4,..and have to groove pitches,...to 'appease' the ump. Not pretty,..and its disturbing...saw it agin tonite.
@briview Welp, that would explain another HR allowed by Lee... It really is hard to figure this pitching staff giving up so many HR so far
One day,..and that day will certainly not arrive in my lifetime,.only a select few,.will be allowed to procreate. This,..I believe,.is a good thing.
@briview I been sayin this for years....males will be neutered at birff, in a reversible manner......can't get the works hooked up again until a competency test has been passed....
...Or sumpins along those lines...
Collectively,.by definition,..does not necessarily engender inclusiveness for all,...gomer.
hmmmm the definition of collectively is such... 1. Assembled into or viewed as a whole.... now, does whole have a different meaning, cause otherwise the evidence doesn't seem to back your claim.
@atvcar when ATV attempts to pretend to know sumptin',.it's akin to bantering with a 12 yr old,....who is still wet behind the ears.
@briview So you're not smarter than a 12 year old wet behind the ear... Or you have a dictionary that defines collectively differently? Please amplify
@Harry Pianos Hairy,..this is not new stuff,.as you have recognized......If you are thinking about something that happened a long time ago: Somebody asked you a question and you did not know the answer. That is my name.
@briview OK, but for now I'll just call you Bri....it's a little more euphonic.....
It always bothered me that you never get to hear the end of the joke that Bender tells in 'The Breakfast Club' before he falls through the ceiling.
Doc got a second opinion today by Mets Dr. Altchek. He has helped many pitchers save careers see Johann Santana.
I've updated all the home run (first post) totals (including Palm Feathers' shot here from yesterday) from the Memorial Day Weekend... Watch out for BleedingGreen93--- he had 3 over "the Wall" this past weekend...
@Tom Jackson TJ, BG93 had 3 over at OTI you mean? I've never seen him post here-but he should.
@PPW And PPW got a tater, too, on one of Dave's rapid-fire OTI's today...
Guy walks meets his with a sheep under his arm and sez, "Ya see this pig? This is what I have gotta have sex with, everytime your menstrating'
Wife sez 'Thats not a pig you dumb fuck, its a sheep!'
Husband replies, 'Shuddup bitch, I wasn't talking to you...'
Looks like we're fixed--- I think. Livefyre, that is... Little bit of Twilight Zone going on in here today. Palm said it a lot better, though...Now I can start a real "Like" spree....
HaHa.....I AndyReid'ed someone today: told em they had to do a better job. Told them, that I would do what I could to put them in the best position to succeed (make plays), but that once I did that, it was their job to succeed (make plays). HAHA! I even cleared my throat a few times real loud during it! Gotta do a better job!
@Brozer8 Nice, Broz... now tell your boss you want more control over picking the personnel you want...
Suprised to read that the Ravens OTAs are being lightly attended with more than 20 vets not there
