It was a great day for the Taming of the Shrew... (subtitle: beware the Ides of March!)...
Most Philly fans got their wish for the franchise tagging of wide receiver and diva extraordinaire DeSean Jackson... and Brizer 12.0 (upgraded from his previous 9.0 version) successfully led an invasion and liberation of the colonial posting compound at PE.com's "On The Inside", where Dave Spadaro's beleaguered stragglers were stifled by a year-long acute lack of enlightenment and entertainment...
In a rare display of solidarity, political rivals Brizer and ATV joined forces to invade PE.com and bombard the site with football logic and intelligence...Here we see Brizer and ATV in concert, jointly escorting Dave Spadaro and the innocent "French Lady Fan" Nathalie to safety, before opening fire on the flame-throwers still resisting in the OTI bunkers...
It was a wonderful thing to watch...first Brizer's calculated exit under the pretense of his displeasure with Eagles Eye's damnable wide-screen irregularities... and his subsequent flight under the radar into the flame-throwers' domain, reminiscent of the fabulous Israeli Raid at Entebbe...
He enlisted the help of many of the faithful who were ousted almost a year ago from the former sanctuary of Eagles fan-posting standards---guys like ATV, Jerky, Boner, Hamhox (aka Brozer), Dutch Rubb, Don Pardo, Kenemeka, and yes...even the great formerly fat now svelte but still an NCAA champion JB99...
It was a militaristic masterpiece to witness. Journalistic standards of critical thought were fired with precision at unsuspecting targets. The opposition fell apart like poorly made sandwiches. The smarter ones, like AFRA, Joe Mas, Woody and DDD, smelled the coffee and surrendered without incident. Others, like Cranky Yankee, Philly Phan 101, Philly Keene, Jab-13, and the Milk Man, were annihilated in the fire fight.
It was the ultimate Flash Mob, except this one had literacy and formal logic on its side...
I await with great wonder at Brizer 12.0's next move... he is the ultimate "Disraeli Gear"... Maybe we really will all get to go home again someday?
As for the franchise-tagging of my boy Peanut Jackson:
Myehhh... no big deal. Since we're cousins, I'm happy he got the dough ($9.4 milz) locked in for 2012...'course, his agent Drew gets a big chunk of that cake up front...
Still doesn't solve the long-term picture, though... You still have the lingering question of whether DJax is "holding out" for a long-term contract with big-time guaranteed money. And we all know by now that in Peanut's mind, "holding out" really means "holding back" in the avoidance of exposure to high-impact contact and possible injury... a self-protective instinct that does not bode well for team unity, despite its inherently logical premise.
I don't have the answer to what to do next with DeSean.
I'll just leave you with these poll results from Dave Stoessel... You remember Dave, we helped that Delaware journalist launch his terrific column Eagles Addict over a year ago...
Here's what Dave's poll on the DJax situation revealed about a week ago, with over 600 Philly fans responding:
WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN WITH JACKSON?
Tag and Trade.............................25%
Long-Term Deal with Philly.............50%
Play under 1-Year Franchise Tag.....16%
Let Him Walk Away....................... 9%
Dave's final take: "The worst thing the Eagles could do is allow Jackson to play another year under a one-year contract...It will be detrimental to the team because it will just be one more year of constant questions about his future, analyzing his every play in every game and wondering if he's short-arming passes [in traffic] or not trying hard on every play..."
There's still time to rectify that potential scenario with a long-term deal or a big trade. But for now at least the Eagles have assumed the cat-bird seat on whatever happens next to Mr. Jackson.
blas has vanished in the process. he's busy adjusting his night-vision goggles, to pounce on thomasjackson when he will post the next blog. ha.
yeah well. i certainly hadn't missed all of DDD's mentions of 'america' and 'family' and all these 'values' correlated to a sport. pisses me off to no end.
reminds me of when france won the soccer worldcup. what a bunch of lameass hypocrits. as if a country could be united behind a sportsteam, neglecting all the deep rifts that exist forever in its society. such illusions.
Think I will pop over to the other place and see what's been happening!!!!! I miss all the fun 5 hours ahead of you guys!!!
Even if we sign DJax long term, I'd like to draft a WR in the late rounds...The Steve Smiff experiment failed and we might as well find a guy that can also PR/KR....
Morning Nat!...I see you could lie in the reeds waiting for a Lupes article update no longer...Yes, the saints are in big trouble...Brees, Nicks, and Colston all to hit the market with limited cap room, and now this!...I expect them to get stripped of draft picks because of this, and I expect possible disciplinary action on the GM, Payton etc...The NFL may make an example of them...
so i wake up, all rosy and ready for the weekend, brisk sat morning, and i learn the saints (who are my back up team, alongside with the colts, of course !!! rofl) are on the brink of explosion ?
it's so bizarre. it's a team that was, from the outside, so close to perfection, with a quarterback doing all the right things during that horrible non-offseason last year, and katrina and all that. and inside the worm was gnawing away at the apple.
it's a sad day, when one realizes that no matter how hard she wishes for it, nfl is certainly no bed of roses nor nest of angels. grrrrr.
As I bid y'all good night, I say it may be worth it to bring Landry in for a chat. Doubtful we can pull it off since he will have several suitors. The fact that the Skins choose to franchise Davis who still has a suspension to serve says a lot about Landrys health
I leave the first for youse and the euros to battle over... Gotta be up early so I don't miss da Phitins opener tomorrow... On here at 10am. See youse guys later.
Wow... The nerve of the dump dwellers to suggest the level of posting has dipped lately there... How would that even be possible??? They got overrun and have no answer but to whine that the old guard is too mean??? WTF??? Grow a set ladies, put away your hankys, take off the diapers, clean the crud from your tear stained eyes, pay attention, and maybe just maybe iffin you're lucky you'll actually learnt sumtin useful that you can then pawn off as your own, and FINALLY not be the laughing stock amongst the barn yard live stock... Errr friends.
Is it just me, or does Russell Wilson look downright Indian...I know he's not, but I think it's the hair...
You guys think Brees turned down the "record" contract because of the impending storm of bad PR that's about to slam the saints?...
@n.akuatuta Hey at least you can remember winning the World Cup ...... Me I was in that nine month period before seeing sunlight when England won it back in 1966 .... LOL!!
Suffice to say I cannot remember it !!! hahaha
@n.akuatuta Hi Ya Nathalie!
@Kent Phil 1967 i know the feeling phil. you are close to 2000 !
@Blasphemizer ah good. finally someone mentions the return game. it has been on my mind all the time. i think it's of high importance.
@Blasphemizer yes it might very well happen. although i have read that the saints aren't the only team to do that.
ugly ugly. they're playing with the health of players. this is not a virtual game where you can blow a man to smithereens. careers and life expectancy hinge on this. i find it utterly disgusting.
@atvcar The euros can have it, Night ATV.
Level of posting?...As compared to what...They don't even have a large enough sample size from before to compare the current level of posting to...'Cause NOBODY was posting there before...Cause the dump suks!... @atvcar
@atvcar The izap can't be released soon enough. Five or six of them deserve that treatment right away. It is the only way they can be saved. Computer electric-shock therapy.
@atvcar No where to go from the level they set but up, and they need to know that. It is the truth...........................methinks they also can't handle the truth!!!!!!!
@Blasphemizer I don't know about the Indian thing, but at 5'11", he should have a 'fro. Would make him look a little taller.
@Blasphemizer Could be. Surely going to muck up that team big time.
@Blasphemizer no i think his short guy feelings were hurt.
@Kent Phil 1967 hahaha. phil as a newborn. i'm sure you were a cutie pie. as for your team, well. i know it's a disappointment. so many excellent british clubs, and nothing comes out of the national selection. i don't know what goes on in these players' minds. look at our ribéry. stellar with his club, transparent when wearing the national jersey. lack of motivation ? childishness ? boredom ? the mind boggles.
@n.akuatuta It's like the Tortoise and the Hare Analogy ......... Me being the Tortoise of course!!! LOL
Hey, if he was sitting there in the 3rd or 4th rounds I'd take him...Fuck obsessing over height...It was never an issue for Brees or MV7...Wilson played behind one of the largest OLs in college football this season and he only had like 3 passes deflected at the line... @dutchrubb
@n.akuatuta Being a Browns fan ... yes I think he suffers ..... Gets all excited around the draft time a nd pre-season ....... by late September reality has usually checked in and he is already working out what spot in the top ten they will drafting at next April ..... Yes we are a lucky lot really ....
@Kent Phil 1967 great story... thanks..
@n.akuatuta Used to watch the Superbowl as teenagers ...... The first one we watched was the 49ers and Dolphins in 1985 I believe ...... Originally liked the Cheats and the Rams (England in the name and the Rams because of the uniform ..... still the best ..... IMVHO) But then got into a bit more looked around and in the late Eighties fell in love with the Eagles because of Randall, Buddy, hating the Cowgirls, Bounty Bowls, the passion etc oh and the late lamented Veterans Stadium ...... A dump yes .... But the passion and atmosphere ...... The closest to the atmosphere you get here in England!!!! I love it ... Oh and my name is Phil ..... And of course the shared nickname with Crystal Palace FC .... EAGLES!!!! I always support the Eagles if I can at any sport ... Hey the local Speedway team here in Eastbourne are nicknamed the Eagles!!! LOL
@n.akuatuta A passionate player and manager ....... (Mainly at Newcastle and Fulham pre Jean Tigana) but as a managerial tactician ....... Errrrrrr No and I think they all preferred playing poker than concentrating on the game!!!
@Kent Phil 1967 oh. the browns fan is your twin. nice !! it must be hard, to be a browns fan. how did you guys get involved in football anyway ?
@Kent Phil 1967 ah kevin keegan.... names that put a smile on my lips. i remember him much more as a player in liverpool and germany (but i don't ermember where) than as a manager. his playing years were the years when i was passionate about soccer.
@n.akuatuta Well I wasn't quite born then ... My Birthday was in Feb 1967..... But I suppose I was technically alive being a bundle of cells at the time .... LOL
Oh and even if I say so myself I was a little cutie (I only weight 5 and a half pounds)..... and their was two of us ........ I have a twin brother .... The Browns fan Hahahaha!!! I keep trying to get him to post on here!!!
I would be pleased for him of course if the Browns get RG III ........ Especially as that will mean the deadskins don't get him!!!
@n.akuatuta I think the laddish / drinking and gambling culture of English Football holds us back .... I just cringe remembering the days of Kevin Keegan in charge ......... Bring in the kids and get rid of the old loutish has beens like John Terry!!!!
@dutchrubb @Blasphemizer Had to hit em up wiff the ole Tombstone quote.... Let em sob on that for awhile
@dutchrubb It's ok... I gots me a hazmat suit for just such an occasion... Though, the smell is hard to wash off... Acid is best
Don't hurt yourself looking for more. Could be a hard thing to make diamonds outta the coal mined from that place.
@Blasphemizer @dutchrubb I myself have rescued Spiffy and Palm on past infiltrations... Unfortunetly the most recent invasion has not located and worthy additions... So far
@Blasphemizer You are right about it not being a big issue for Brees, but MV7 does struggle with it. Can a short guy be a star QB? Yes, oviously, but less of them are. Would I take him in the third? Maybe, but am just thinking it is unlikely. And as far as my comment about the 'fro, was just funnin.
@Blasphemizer @dutchrubb Good stat... Look at the difference of the level of intelligence here and at the dump... You think you'd get something so valuable there iffin this group didn't invade there from time to time?
