Quiet day, reverent day on Eagles front...
June 2012 takes a quiet exit this week. Today (June 25) marks the 20th anniversary of the tragic death one of the greatest Eagles defensive players of all time--- Jerome Brown.
Perhaps it's fitting that a quiet news day will allow many media outlets to spend some time on the life and memory of Jerome Brown. Besides being a great defensive tackle, he was a quality human being.
The All-Pro was in his hometown of Brooksville, Florida giving a ride to his nephew when his automobile hit a wet stretch of highway and he lost control of the vehicle. I'm sure you can google the gruesome details of the accident report. I believe his nephew was killed in the accident, too.
The tragedy shook up the entire Eagles franchise in the summer of 1992. Dozens of teammates flocked to Brooksville for JB's funeral, and later the entire team led by Reverend Reggie White held a memorial service for Brown at the Vet. White went on to dedicate the season to Brown's memory. The Eagles finished 11-5 that year, and beat the Saints as a Wild Card in the playoffs, but lost the divisional playoff round to Dallas.
Brown would be in his mid-forties today if he had survived that fluke accident...
As far as current matters go, we can take the day off...
Most players are off doing their thing with families and friends... Some are doing PR stuff for the league and the team...
Reportedly, the Eagles are still $18 million underneath the salary cap... What this means regarding near-future contract extensions or bigger FA signings?---your guess is probably better than mine.

I think i need to plan an annual month-long vacation this time every year to get me mind off the Eagles...
Mini-camps, then Europe/Australia/Carribean (probably on a rotation basis), then Training Camp! It's SEAMLESS!

probably not Canada.. Canada is kind of like Kyle Kendrick, just can't break the starting rotation. But, if I'm in a pinch, like planes are no longer in use, Kyle/Canada gets a shot.

I commend Beanie on his football posts.. he was a very raw talent when recruit hear, some character issues.. But he's made the most of his opportunity. Cheers, mate!

As Mulch 10 Champ, I will soon claim my prize of a week's vacatch' down at Fat's Farm.
However, I will pick a week when he's not there.
Then,....I will feed all of his cats 3 hits of LSD each, so that they will all forget their housetraining, leaving their minds a blank slate, ready for my re-programming.
Then, I will train each one of them to urinate on his bed, and poop on his pillow. When they successfully soil his bed, I will give them lots of praise, and a little tiny dose of cocaine, so that it will be the strongest re-enforcement ever, and will never be able to be un-trained.
That way Fat will always have to lay in a bed soggy wiff cat-pee, and use a pillow bescumbered wiff poo, all the days of his life.
That will be a great and relaxing week !
