Every other year or so I like to look around for the latest in Football Training technology...
Probably the most innovative training device I've seen lately is the iPad, in its ability to totally transform the Playbook and Advance Film Scouting tools into easily accessible media... no more lugging around of 500-page transcripts or 16mm film projectors or VHS videotape libraries...
But you still need the brick-and-mortar training devices. Football is a physical sport. There's no cybernetic cure for that undeniable fact.
So let's take a tour of the currently hot training gadgets:
#1... the "Run-N-Chute" Speed Training Parachute....
The Run-N-Chute is a no-tangle aerodynamic speed-strength training parachute. The Run-N-Chute is ideal for the athlete who wants to gain that competitive speed edge. It's designed to develop a faster start and enhance explosive speed and sprinting power. During training, the Run-N-Chute produces drag which increases with speed. The faster an athlete moves, the more drag it produces. The Run-N-Chute includes: One Run-N-Chute speed parachute, a webbed belt w/ quick release buckle and a training manual.
"The Run N Chute is the best resistance running instrument for speed development. This speed parachute will help you develop a faster start, and also improves the running mechanics that are necessary in running faster."---Dr. E.J. "Doc" Crease - UCLA Strength Coach
#2...the " Football Fumbler"...
The Football Fumbler is designed for beginner, advanced or professional football players. It teaches the athlete to grasp, control and be aware of the football. One athlete runs with the football while the other runs behind holding the nylon strap rip cord and attempts to dislodge the ball from his hands. This teaches ball awareness and control, which becomes a priority as the ball carrier fights to maintain possession while maintaining the forward motion. Comes complete with all necessary hardware and instructions.
#3...Strength-weighted training vest and shorts...
Build lower leg power, acceleration and endurance with the STRENGTH WEIGHTED VEST & SHORTS when training... Play in it, practice in it and train in it. The STRENGTH WEIGHTED VEST & SHORTS also comes with recommended training movements workout program. Includes 10 lbs of weight for the vest and 5 lbs for the shorts. Total maximum weight capacity: Vest = 30lbs. (except small it can only hold 25 lbs), Shorts = 12lbs.
Develop the explosive leg drive required for an elite performance. Use the harness to target stride length and drive or use the handles to push the sled, developing a powerful hip and leg drive.
- Push or pull sled.
- Improve acceleration and leg drive
Sled made of strong welded steel. Assembly required. Color: Red. Sled dimensions: 37"L x 18" W x 9" H. Wt. 28 lbs.
#5... "Mastering the NFL Football Combine Training Video"... [N.Y. Giants linebacker Dhani Jones getting ready to perform his 8th set of dynamic box squats with chains. He routinely completes 3 reps in under 2.9-seconds with this weight (365 lbs.). Now that's explosive power!...and he learned the secret of this training technique from Joe DeFranco's video...]
In the past two years alone, Joe DeFranco has trained over 500 top college and high school prospects... His training video is now required viewing for NFL strength and training coaches. Since 2010, DeFranco has accomplished the following:
This contoversial and information-packed video is guaranteed to take your understanding of Combine training to a new level. This is truly the video that college and professional football scouts don't want you to see.
JB99 and Brizer have both viewed this video. And now you know why they have been running off to the gym so much recently.
Today is a bitter sweet day for me, as it relates to canines....My brothers dog (a Dachshund) has been staying with us for about eight months while he (brother) went through various physical, financial, and matrimonial problems.....and today is the day little Edward leaves my house....I'm gonna miss the little mongrel, but at the same time I'm happy to see him go....peace will be restored in the kingdom....
@n.akuatuta I believe it is the first day the tag can be applied, but not the last....he may wait....
@Harry Pianos i think evergreen will wait till the last minute, if they even have the intention to franchise him, that is.
@Harry Pianos traded he will be, according to my predictions, which are based on nothing.
@n.akuatuta I have little doubt they will franchise him....what they do with him after that is the question. Still not convinced he is not getting traded,....I hope he stays, and resigns at a reasonable rate, which would be less than top five money...IMO....
i see bri has a new photo of the lovely TJ. puppies are so cute when they look so clumsy with their bigs patounes. charming.
JB and BRi and an excercise video,,,nah....not unless it's titled.."Cheerleaders do Dallas" or sumpen......
Me coach gave me the perfect training tool back in the day that still is valid in today's game...it was da peverbial 'foot up the ass" training tool...needless to say...it made you run and jump a whole lot better..but sitting was dangerous..I think the old goat designed it that way.......
I am he, as you are he, as you are me
And we are all together
See how they run, like pigs from a gun,
See how they fly,
Lupes with the AFRA reference at OTI:::: Nice....
What happened at Evergreen yesterday? Like the stock market on a Friday....It surged to a 90 day high with comments....of course it was lead by the Apple(DDD) and Lorillard(Hamhox) of the group....
If you want, you can create an account and get in a question, if it's good enough, The supreme Overlord Evan Mathis may answer it...
Obligatory video of Evan Mathis getting ripped (not suitable for sunny, may cause over-arousal for him): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezaAMcCy3u4
@Blasphemizer Damn, that's what I need to do...
@Blasphemizer Funny how millions of potential dollars can motivate someone.
Yeah, well this was before this season...He was kinda bouncing around the league due to injuries and scheme changes...Guess he finally took a look at everything and decided to pull it all together and choose his location carefully...It worked out pretty well for him...And us, too... @Jerky
Ah well - I gotta go for now. Done all of the damage I can do here for one day.
Get home and spend some time with my boss > er Bride.
Thank-you all for being you.
Trying mightily to be good company tonight - truth is the guards worked me over pretty good past few days.
@Palm Feathers It was the Lancaster Amish mafia that was my problem the other night...Fla guards any rougher?
Much worse - and all non-union.
@Palm Feathers Gotcha. Feel like that myselve on occasion...........everybody in my biz looks to the Dutchmaster to solve all thir problems. Had a group of them here today......and if they would have listened to me in the first place.......no problems. But they went and bought stuff from every Tom, Dick, and Harry. (No offence for any bored members with those names), and then expect me to straighten up their mess after they have spent the money. Yep, I get that ALLLLL the time.
Really - I just don't think they get it. Can't thet see how tired I am with carrying the weight of the entire world?
What's the matter with them anyway?
@Palm Feathers Whats their problem?
The good ole days. When men were men and women were glad of it.
Furry animals feared me - nay even the crack of dawn was not safe.
@Palm Feathers Good ole days alive and well in Pennsylvania..........May not be as good as I once was..........but I am as good ONCE........as I ever was.
Just reading the stuff below. Man, Sunbutts really sells a lot of tickets huh?
Natives are restless - hate this time of the year.
Hey - whatever happened to sending people to 'The Woodshed'?
Seemed like you guys were sending each other there a lot in the past.
@Palm Feathers We won't send him to the shed any more..........he messes up the Sears catalog.
Some of the stuff of my dreams in days gone by.
@Palm Feathers Yeah, well, he pastes the pages together, so nobody else can read it.....besides, nobody else can visit for a while........place reeks of rotten olive pits.
