MACH it 'til you rock it... some late Eagles draft thoughts...
Written by Thomas Jackson on .

An old Simon and Garfunkel album cover? Nope, it's Howie Roseman and Andy Reid in a recent presser shot...but just like every songwriting duo in the biz, Howie and Andy are looking for hits this week.
First thought is--- the Draft format has changed this year. Sheil Kapadia of philly.com reminded us of that last week, but here is a quick review:
Round 1: The Colts go on the clock with the first pick Thursday night at 8 p.m. Teams have 10 minutes to make their picks.
Rounds 2 & 3: The second round gets started Friday night at 7 p.m. Teams have 7 minutes to make their picks in the second round and 5 minutes in the third.
Rounds 4-7: The fourth round begins Saturday at noon. Teams have 5 minutes to make their picks.
Second thoughts--- the "draft experts" are coming on board with their stories of projection and they're sticking to 'em...
Sports Illustrated's Peter King projects UNC's DL-man Quinton Coples to the Birds...
Sporting News' Russ Lande has the Eagles taking Memphis DT Dontari Poe...
National Football Post's Wes Bunting thinks Mississippi State DT Fletcher Cox will fall to Eagles at #15 pick in round 1; he also has Cal LB Mychal Kendricks going to the Birds at pick #46 and Stanford OT Jonathan Martin at #51.
CBSSports.com's Rob Rang has the Eagles picking LSU's DT Michael Brockers in the first round.
Kapadia himself is touting DE Chandler Jones from Syracuse as a Day 2 target-pick for the Eagles, along with LB Kendricks and Georgia CB/return man Brandon Boykin.
He's also got his eye on late-round and undrafted scenarios. The Eagles have representatives meeting with Houston linebacker Sammy Brown in Texas today, according to Aaron Wilson of Scout.com. Brown (6-2, 243) is expected to be a late-round pick or undrafted free agent. He had 13.5 sacks last season and led the nation with 30 tackles for loss...
I'll stop here and let the Bored catch us up with more pertinent Draft Weekend preparations and ruminations... I'm done sifting though a phalanx of "experts", and will now rely upon the expertise of our own Bored membership to guide me through final projections.
I want the 15th traded. Rams is my favourite, but anyone will do. If we have the 32nd pick next year as planned, we need another 1st rounder to move up and grab a Franchise QB. Remember They geared Vick's contract so they can dump him after this season without a lot of fuss.. Same with Peanuts in 2014. AND there is likely to be a good crop of QB's coming out. Sooo, if we dominate for the next couple of seasons, this could be our only chance the make hay while the sun is shining with a flash new QB..
Gotta hand it to the NFL Lords. They got this down pat - dole out litle pieces of FB at a time - we're all in withdrawal now.
Build on the drama - by draft day we're all in SuperBowl mode. Them SOB's.
Works like charm on me...God I look forward to Blas's T-Minus countdown!
This is starting to feel like Dec 23rd right about now.
I find drafterbating a fun and lonsome thing, overated with no climax, rubbing ourselves raw with antisipation....Till the great big fat JB99 shows up and fuks it up!
Why pay the price to move up when staying put will yeild good players? Remember,it's about the best avail this year...not need?
Well, if you're offered a good deal to move up, and you know that there's value there...You do that too... @southphillyben
@Blasphemizer @southphillyben Sure, but for who and for what? There are so many scenarios to think out that it's just better to say BPA ALL DAY!!
@southphillyben This is my line of thinking, I hope it's Howie's and Andy's too. No effin Jon Harris moves this year or I'm gonna lose my shit!!
Fletcher Cox is soaring up the board, Jason La Canfora reporting many teams are considering a deal to move up to 5 ahead of the Rams to take the manster.
I'm not buying it...I think the Vikes are hyping him to try and move their pick...Besides, if he moves up, guys like Claiborne, Coples, Ingram or even Keekly would be moving down... @HudsonHawk89
@Blasphemizer @HudsonHawk89 I'm buying what you're selling. No way Cox goes 5th overall.
@HudsonHawk89 Honestly, I will rather keep my picks, let cox go and draft Coples and Derek Wolfe
@Kenemeka @HudsonHawk89 I would definitely be happy staying put, wouldn't cry if we moved up for Cox though...
Think abou the senior bowl....they kept saying Coples pretty much beat any OL whenever he wanted to. Too much time on the hands of so called analysts have started to poke holes in Brockers and Coples games. They were dominant when the games counted
QB - not inour picture, WR - just don't think we need - only type of 'Game-Changer' we could draft is D-Line or Keeks.
Other than that - stay put - let the food come to us.
@Palm Feathers You know you'd have a boner if the Eagles decided to take Floyd, c'mon, admit it, I would. I will be excited if they get Hill, Sanu, or my boy Jeffrey!
I don't know now - but I'm gonna look up his coach and check out (more closely) the school and program.
See who comes out from there in the future.
@Palm Feathers He's a talent, that's for sure. I watched every single one of his games. I know.
come on baby - come on--- slide all the way to us, you BEAST !!
My opinion - no way he gets past 10.
I don't care how pretty some of the WR's are - Kahlil is a foundation you could build a friggin skyscraper on.
@Palm Feathers Hell yes, I was thinking about him when I wrote that previous comment too. The signing of Bell makes me think they won't go in that direction. I heard he could slide though, that would fracking great for us!!!
@Palm Feathers We need a KR or PR, so we may end up drafting a RS....WR or RB. That's why I have Boykins and Rainey in my mach
Iffen we move up ?It would have to be for Keekly,Cox is loved by Iggles brass, but Keek is worthy....Talk about a 360/
Rams might take Cox at 6 otherwise at 7 Jags will trade down for little. Are we ready to give up a second and perhaps late pick to get up there? If we don't Panthers will take him
I am not sure about that at all K. I think the rumours of Poe and the Pathers make a lot of sense. My gut says they will go for the Combine hype in Poe because they are interested in a 'cult' figure for the fans. What you say?
@beanstalk @Kenemeka Poe's name is starting to really become toxic...he may slide, slide, slide.
@Kenemeka If we move up it HAS to be for Cox or the Kookster, right? If it's for those 2 I'm definitely down pushing the chips all in. Fuck it, we've tried everything else....
@HudsonHawk89 I think we could potentially move up. But if you get a motivated Coples, he may end up the best DL from this draft
South does make one VERY good point about Coach Reid. I don't think he's in trouble for a job with the Birds but I do think there is tremendous pressure on ALL of them to do - something.
That being said - do you sell the farm, move up and pray that the game-changer you got is not a flop?
@Palm Feathers I really like having dem two 2nd rounders. I would say it wouldn't be worth it in the long run (3 years from now). There's no way we move into the top 5 without it costing us 2 first rounders,... and i say eff dat!
@beanstalk I'm not sure Keuchly falls beyond Seahawks. They've lost all their LBs
@beanstalk @Kenemeka It would be nice if Wagner was there for the birds in the 3rd. He is a nice looking linebacker.
They picked up Ruud, though...even though it probably doesn't count for much... @Kenemeka @beanstalk
@Blasphemizer @Kenemeka @beanstalk
hope we don't regret not trying to grab him.
Did he get a lot of $ ?
