Eagles cough up a 4th and a 6th to snag Fletcher Cox in pick #12...
It was dynamic, for sure... the Eagles traded up to get their man at Defensive Tackle...
Fletcher Cox (#94), 6-4, 298, extremely mobile defensive tackle from Mississippi State...and DL coach Jim Washburn really wanted this guy...
For the first time in some time, Andy Reid took a player in the first round that many had him targeting and that many fans pleaded he would take.

Now let's analyze the pick....
To move up three spots from No. 15, the Eagles gave the Seahawks their fourth and the best of their three sixth-round picks. Coach Andy Reid said that the Eagles went into the draft committed to not dealing away either of their two second-round picks or their third-round selection.
And that's a smart move--- because several players with first-round grades - such as defensive tackles Jerel Worthy of Michigan State and Kendall Reyes of Connecticut, along with Stanford tight end Coby Fleener and Georgia Tech wide receiver Stephen Hill - are still on the board and could be there when the Eagles make their next pick of the second round.
"We had ourselves honed in on what we wanted to spend," Reid said. "And so, we weren't going to get as elaborate as some (teams) did. We had other people there that we liked if this didn't work out."
Getting Cox, many believe, will help him right away. Reid often looks long term. He may not have that luxury this year, and that may have led to the confluence of his and Eagles fan's win-now objectives in getting Cox. "His athletic ability--- it jumped out at you," Reid said. "For a big man to move the way that he can move...well, that's rare."
The Eagles entered the draft with nine picks. They still have six even after giving Seattle the 114th and 172d overall picks. Along with their second and third round picks, the Eagles still have a fifth rounder, two sixth rounders and the seventh rounder that came Wednesday after the Eagles traded Asante Samuel to Atlanta.
Here's what some of the national media pundits had to say:
USA TODAY: "Philadelphia surrenders pick No. 114 and a sixth-round selection to move up three spots, but Cox is certainly worth the price. A true penetrating three-technique, Cox does his best work disrupting upfield with low pad level and excellent burst. He still has a long way to go technique wise, infrequently using his length to his advantage, but Cox's relentless motor is invaluable. This is a perfect fit for the Eagles' aggressive, upfield defense."
NFLN's JASON LACANFORA: "Defensive tackles annually go higher in the actual drafts than the mocks. In that sense, Cox's fast rise should surprise no one. NFL Films analyst Greg Cosell calls Cox the best overall defensive lineman in the draft, with the "natural athleticism and body flexibility to develop into a quality pass rusher".
