The big storylines for Eagles fans are being built around King Dunlap's quest for the right tackle job as a starter tonight, and the battle for roster survival among the Birds' safeties and cornerback candidates...
Of course, the national commentary from FOX broadcasters tonight will be all about Michael Vick's huge interview in GQ Magazine, and about the Steelers' vaunted pass rush and their attempt to contain Vick.
Allegedly too tall and too heavy to fit into the scheme of offensive line coach Howard Mudd, the 6-9, 330-pound Dunlap has at least temporarily taken over the position protecting the blind side of southpaw quarterback Michael Vick despite competition from a bunch of candidates.
“This whole size with Mudd thing is I think something that people kind of put in there,” Todd Herremans said. “If that was true I wouldn’t be playing guard at 6-foot-7. He just likes athletic guys that can do what he asks. If you’re 8-foot tall and you can do what he asks and be effective with it then he’s going to let you play.”

Such a change would be "like dialing 911", said Bob Grotz of the Delco Times, as it would weaken the strength of the line … DeSean Jackson is scheduled to start for the Eagles.

Bri's on point, as usual... that damnable Dick LeBeau... he outcoached Juan Castillo... there, I said it... and I know that doesn't make logical sense since both are DC's now... but LeBeau stepped up his game to teach Castillo a lesson... and also sent Marty M. back to NovaCare with little Deion fairies dancing in his head... Frack it all... I would trade Castillo for LeBeau in a New York minute right now... We just been punked by Dick LeBeau...

I think MM got out coached for sure.. Or whoevas idea is to pass pass pass? When will the Eagles ever commit to the run.. VIck aint no Brady, Manning, Rodgerz or Breez.. So gotta have some more power runs to keep teams honest.. But we been sayin that for the last couple years too lol @Tom Jackson

After tonight, it's obvious that we're the worst team in football...Cause everybody knows that you can't be even remotely good after having a single bad game in the preseason...We should all just give up and burn our Eagles gear now...

Wow... tough first half, a lot to digest and decipher... scary that Andy and Marty left Starship in there for the final two minutes of the first half... although I did like the HOF hit Vick put on HOF Polamalu... but I never ever want to see that again...

Well, Butts is gonna try and spin this into the effing fall of the Roman Empire...I'm not ashamed...We had a a bad game in the PRESEASON and lost to a very good team by 10...It's not like we blew a 21 point lead with 7 minutes left to go in the game...

we still run everybody deep too much... but... if we unleash Vick in those situations ... as in... give him the green light to run... it will work... and I'm sure we are telling him to take it down a little bit right now...

Cons: Chaney seemed to be the only LB who diagnosed a good portion of plays correctly. Nate Allen was just absolute burnt toast, he was always in the vicinity, but just a step behind. Lips bit and lost, not unfamiliar. Harrymens pulled and should have fucking ended Woodley's life, but he came in soft and Woodley came off him and made a play on Shady. Shady didn't pick up the DB blitz. Harrymens and Flapp Jack STRUGGLED in pass pro. Starship 7 obviously missed Maclin a bit there...MacDaddy is dynamite at getting open on intermediate bread-and-butter WC routes, Starship 7 could've used that tonight.

Yes, it was ugly ... but this may have been the best outcome we could have hoped for. Or maybe I just see it that way because I'm smashed.

My observations: The Pros: No significant injuries. It's only the preseason. except for the fumble, Pion Dion was a gamer. Kafka was very sharp out there, shame that can't be said about the 2 QBs ahead of him. Surprisingly, King was not the biggest reason behind some starting OL blunders tonight.
